We’re in pictures!!

OK…well not really US…but close enough.

Resident photog Brenda snapped a shot of the Rideau Canal when we were in Ottawa. She uploaded it to our Flikr stream, and a few weeks ago I received an email from Schmap.com asking if they could use the photo on their site for a photo tour of Canada!!

The end result is here.

Good job Brenda!!!

For a great cause..

Cheryl from the Rec team is currently working on a Documentry, and asked us all to take a moment and read about it…

Fellow Lady Hawks:

Are you a hockey nut? Are you a charitable person? Do you want to be a part of a local success story? Do you want to see your name on the big screen? Do you need a tax write off before the end of the year?

I am writing to you all as a fellow Lady Hawk in need of assistance. As you may not be aware, I am currently co-producing a documentary film (www.mindbodymask.com) about ice hockey goalies who face the additional challenge of a physical disability. Our hopes for this film are to screen it at film festivals next year and eventually distribute it for theatrical release. Presently we are in the post-production phase and are in need of funds to complete this film.

This film production is 100% non-profit with all of our proceeds going to the 6 charities selected by our featured goaltender participants (see website for details). I am asking that you consider making a tax-deductible donation of ANY amount (personal or business) to help us finish this film. $10, $100, $500, whatever you can contribute. Help a local filmmaker and fellow hockey mom to bring these inspirational stories to the big screen. Remember ANY amount will help and it is tax-deductible. Click here to donate: http://www.mindbodymask.com/Donate.html .

Please forward this email to any other hockey fans or fellow humanitarians that might be interested in helping out. Thank you again.

Those of us involved in Mind-Body-Mask appreciate your help.

Christmas Toy Drive

We are going to collect gifts for the Christ’s Home for Children in Warminster- many of you pass it on the way to the rink.  This is just something where you can donate something if you are able- but in no way is anyone under any obligation to do so.  I will bring a sign up sheet with me to each practice and game for the next few weeks.

C Team- please just ask me for it and sign as to what you will bring.  D and Rec- please see me at the rink or shoot me an email with your donation choice and I’ll mark the sheet.  As you can see from the attached sheets- you can almost bring anything you want- they are in need.

Please bring all donations unwrapped to either practice or games between now and Saturday night December 8th (C has home game and I’ll be at rink).  We will deliver the donations on Tuesday December 11th before 7 PM.  The organization will wrap and distribute the gifts as needed.  Thanks everyone.

That’s right, the Hawks have a blog.

A what?…… a BLOG.

You have all heard of it before, and for those that haven’t congratulations you are now on the internet.

For those of you that are not familiar with a “blog”, think of it as a newsletter that doesn’t clog up your email, go to the wrong email address, etc. Any and all news can be found here, at your convenience. We will be posting game results, hockey news, league happenings, and anything else you might find interesting as a Hawk. If you would like to see something up here, please let either Tracey or Lisa Larkin know. Any ideas that anyone has are completely encouraged. Stay tuned, and check back often.

PS. You can also leave comments after any post, simply click on the comment link at the bottom….and be nice =)
